Mazatlan 2012

Day 1: Sabado arrival.  Flight was a bit bumpy towards maz.
Taxi was $40 or $400 pesos- good idea to change money before your come or at the airport.  We had the driver stop for cervezas at this little kwik stop that had bars on the door and a little pass through hole to buy stuff from the guy.  of course his english es pequino and my spanish was worse.
The exchange in town we saw was $11.80p and at EB it is $12.50p.
Our rooms were 2226-7, both master suite with an adjoining door.  The only downside was the weird double beds in the bedroom.   otherwise, es primo.
First mexi-meal was at the pool grill with the sunglass menu.  I had the shrimp tacos- remember to ask for the corn tortillas, otherwise they come in hard (american style) taco shells.  The marlin tacos that Jim ordered had authentic corn tortillas. We had a pretty early evening and i was asleep by 830, even though i was trying to read the mockingjay (or whatever book 2 of the Hunger Games is)
Day 2: Domingo
Up and out in a taxi to Panama for breakfast.  Remember to have the taxis drop you there for the golden zone- it's cheaper ($100p),
Breakfast was phenomenal.  I ordered the pasqual- look this up on the menu photo.  #16, I think.  It was avocado and cheese enchiladas with 2 eggs and this steak and potato mix on the side that was fucking amazing.
Wandered up the beach through the beach passage at panchos and walked up to the empty beach spot south of Hotel Playa Mazatlan and the walked on the street back to Joe's Oyster bar for the strongest margaritas I've had that didn't taste like booze.  DANGER! ha.  we were there for about 4 hours, then decided to wander more.  Our final destination was to be the MEGA for food.... on the road mcd's is on headed west.  We hit up the taco stand to the right of Taco Loco on the way.  yum.  HOT HOT roasted jalapeno.
Grocery store was a riot.  Drunk shopping hasn't been done by me in quite a while.  The bill there was $70usd for a whole lot of stuff.  Although I find it odd and have no reason why they wouldn't sell booze after 2pm at that store.  I wonder if it's cuz it was Sunday?  The pulmonia from there was $120p and he drove us in to an auto something .. a drive THROUGH liquor store.  Drive in that fucker like it's an oil change.
Day 3: Lunes
Morning we make chorizo, eggs and oniony potatoes.. yum.  then we head out to the pool for a bit.  I had a "Dirty Monkey" drink- pina colada with banana and chocolate.  the drink of the day (2x1) was the Mazatlan madness or something.  We came back to the room for lunch, since i bought us a kilo of sliced ham a the drunk store.  Dinner was at Panchos- $120p to get there since the one way streets are all the wrong way and the pulmonia has to go all the way to the end of the GZ and go back.  anyhoo.. Panchos was great!  we love the free app samplers they bring out.  Fried stuffed jalapenos and all the salsas.  especially the warm chipotle sauce.  I ordered the Beef Molcajete.  It came out in this huge lava scalding hot stone bowl with sauce, cactus, cheese, tomatoes and charred green onions. holy fucking yum. stupid good.  Tonys was good- the beef Hurache (spelling no bueno on that one)  We walked a bit got S some shirts (you wanna buy something you don't need?) and then headed to Gus y Gus for a few bevvies.  the pulmonia ride was crazy cold and the driver gave me his coat and the peeps in the back a blanket, then cranked up the 80's music.  Girls they wanna have fun... the boss.. etc.
Day 4: Martes
Breakfast at the buffet while j/s were at the time share presentation.  Then to Playa Bruja with high hopes of renting a surfboard and becoming miraculously good at surfing.  Next time no foam boards.  holy shit I couldnt' get that big fucker under the waves so I kept getting my laundry done every time.  T/J/S ate at Mr Lionoza's at Playa Bruja while I tried to surf.  the surfboard rental place is a coffee shop at the orange strip mall at the entrance of the RV park. (puenta cerritos rv)
Now, we're hangin out makin a plan for vd dinner.  thoughts are to go to Angelo's at PB maz.  free shuttle is worth a try.
Tomorrow, the boys fish and S and I have a spa appointment for massages, which i need now that I tried to paddle past the breakers like a drunken fat girl fights over a dropped piece of pizza.
