Atmosphere

Locals are great, but be prepared to speak combat English/French to find out what you need. Cost for board rental and a boat ride is $18US.

Garbage Heap

Park your car - Locked - at the garbage dump area. You should be able to see other cars there unless you are there really early. Park it along the beach area. There are plenty of breaks there too if the swell is right.

Atmosphere

If you find yourself in St. Marten with a surfboard in tow, definitely go to this spot. There is only on surf shop, which I luckily found. Explore the island, head up to the north, and hike out for the day. There is nothing like surfing with some friendly locals and catching some warm water waves. Ripping good time! Most people don't think that this island has anything other than women and booze, but the surf is a hit!

General

If I had the chance to live on the beach, this is the place I would do it! You can see the untouched beauty of the island in the distance and feel the warm Caribbean Sun throughout the surf session. What else can be better?

Wilderness
This spot is on the French Side of Saint Martin, all the way to the north. You have to take a car from Green Cay up to the north on the outer road until you come to a garbage dump site. You will travel through some construction on your way there and the dump site is where you park. There will be a trail leading from the north side of the beach out along a point and then west to the surf spot. Take the trail for about 15 to 20 minutes until you see the waves breaking to your right. There should be a surf shack on the beach made of sticks, 2x4s, and other odds and ends. Great hidden spot with awesome view!

. Hit the north side of the island, ask for directions to the dump, and the surfers are friendly enough to point you in the right direction if you have made it this far.

English (Translate this text in English): For those who say there isn't surfing in St. Martin, they are wrong. This is a hidden but excellent spot if you are looking for some freedom from the Puerto Rican crowds. Take a small jumper plane to the island and rent a car. Atmosphere

Local favorite! Definitely recommend it if you visit the island and have your board with you. There is only one surf shop on the island and they were friendly enough to show me the spot. Use windguru.com to determine the swell and wind direction - makes for a better experience. Just sitting in the water in the tropical surroundings was enough for me to enjoy!
